Since the inception of Sonora Rally, Alta Cocina, by Aventura! has curated the nightly bivouac. This year with new, strikingly beautiful locations, racers can expect outstanding camping and dining experiences throughout the rally. A favorite feature of our competitors, the nightly bivouac provides a central location for camaraderie between racers, crew and rally personnel. It is where rally participants come for nightly drivers meetings, chef driven food, and samplings of regional wines and craft microbrews.
This year rally competitors will again be treated to phenomenal food in Hermosillo by Chef Eloy Aluri, who curated the celebration dinner in 2019. His new restaurant, Mesa Cortez, is located inside of Parque La Ruina, and will be open for competitors to purchase breakfast and lunch during tech and contingency. That day he will also organize a local “Farmers Market” with snacks and artisanal items near the tech area, from 11am- 3pm. Chef Eloy has spent several years traveling the state of Sonora, working hand in hand with farmers, ranchers, indigenous communities, businessmen and media to help promote a sustainable and socially responsible culinary environment for Sonora. With these forged relationships he will create daily menus steeped in local traditions, blending artisans with chef driven ideas for breakfasts and dinners. He will be joining the rally in its entirety, in order to bring participants authentic regional specialties from each rally bivouac location.
The finish in San Luis Rio Colorado will see an awards celebration dinner with our Sonora Rally Food Family from La Faisana, Bohemio Food Van and JH Steak. They have been with the rally since day one, and as always, will bring their local menu specialties and party atmosphere.
